ABOUT ME

My father Dick Dooley was a keen photographer and he did some fantastic work. It made sense then that some of his children might follow in his footsteps.

My twin brother, Peter, started much earlier than I did and has been doing some truly amazing work for more than 20 years. One of his first images made it to the front cover of the biggest agricultural publication in the RSA, the Landbou Weekblad magazine.

Some years later, my sister Catherine also started her photographic journey and she has been awarded with many accolades from various photographic societies.

It was in 2003 that I borrowed a camera from Peter and took a few images while on a short work assignment in the southern Khalahari.

The bug had bitten me but it was only in 2021 that I decided to purchase my own 'proper' camera and having learnt so much from Peter and Catherine, I was now able to apply this knowledge and so started on my amazing and very rewarding photographic journey.

I have always had a fascination for flight, so it follows that I have concentrated more on bird photography as my preferred subject matter.

Peter is now an accomplished landscape photographer, and he taught me the intricacies of photography.

See what's in my photography bag...
